The Municipality of Syros\u2013Ermoupoli is organizing a rare gathering of leading scholars in the context of a one-day lecture symposium. The symposium focuses on the historical period of the Greek Revolution and on the pivotal events that shaped the birth and identity of Ermoupoli.<\/p>\n

The event is coordinated by the distinguished Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Crete, Mr. Christos Loukos, while a number of eminent historians will present papers, offering detailed analyses of the political, social, and economic aspects of the city\u2019s foundation.<\/p>\n
