Quicksilver Flatmates – CANCELED
A subversive comedy set in modern-day Edinburgh ‘Bastias’ Theatre Society
This comedy, written by Andreas Tzinis, is built on fast-paced, short exchanges of dialogue in the style of French farce; launching a vibrant performance that guarantees multiple explosions of laughter, while illustrating significant landscapes and cultural elements of Scotland and its idyllic capital city of Edinburgh.
The setting: New Year’s Eve (or Hogmanay in true Scottish fashion!) at the communal lounge of Tristan’s shared flat. Tristan is an amateur playwright and theatre director, hosting a rehearsal for his four flatmates/actors: Isolde, a Peruvian model, Aladdin, an Indian worker, Halima, a Belgian hairdresser, and John, a Moroccan vet. Despite the five characters’ common artistic goals, their diverse
political, ideological and religious beliefs, and their contrasting personalities fuel constant surprises; these in turn get further complicatedvia the characters’ abundant blind spots and shortcomings. Through the workings of a mystery-&-romance element and unexpected twists in their personal relationships, comedy itself becomes transcended! Nothing is what it seems to be… And what will the end be?
