Three torches, same light
In a warm and heartfelt theatrical event, the Lyceum Club of Greek Women of Syros, the Association of Asia Minor Greeks of Ermoupolis, and the Pontian Association of Syros unite their voices, their memories, and their traditions, illuminating the spirit of Christmas through the shared thread of their historical journeys.
On stage, three worlds meet—worlds that, despite their different origins, carry the same love for culture, memory, and homeland.
They present Christmas customs: the carols that once echoed through the streets of Ermoupolis, the alleys of Trebizond and Smyrna, the wishes, the aromas of grandmothers’ sweets, and the small daily rituals that filled every home with anticipation and light.
Through theatrical performances, music, and dance, these traditions come alive before the audience, reminding us that what fades over time can be reborn when there are people who cherish it.
The collaboration of these organizations in a shared performance becomes a bridge of memory and heart. Tradition becomes words, song, and emotion. It becomes a promise that the cultural heritage of our ancestors will continue to be passed down from generation to generation, with respect and pride.
The evening will conclude with the wish that Christmas customs may always remain a beacon of unity, love, and hope, reminding us that our roots are our strength and the light that guides us.
