Memories and Hopes of the Refugees Come Alive Once More

The Apollon Theatrical and Cultural Society of Syros revives the historic play by Nikos Sfyroeras. The work focuses on the early years of the city’s founding in the early 19th century by Greek refugees who arrived from Chios, Smyrna, Psara, and many other regions. The performance is a tribute to the city with its “Ionian edges” and to the determination of the first settlers to take root on the “ashen and barren rock.”
