A Magical Three-Day Music Experience for the Island’s Children

The Municipality of Syros–Ermoupolis, in collaboration with the Syrreo Festival, the El Sistema Greece Academy orchestra, and the Arco Sonore ensembl, invites the island’s children to a unique three-day musical event.

From Monday, April 6 to Wednesday, April 8, young participants will have the opportunity to discover the world of the orchestra and perform on the stage of the historic Apollo Theater.

The Arco Sonore ensemble brings to Syros a dynamic three-day music workshop, inviting children to experience the magic of the orchestra from within. The program begins with the interactive musical performance “1, 2, 3 Let’s Go to a Concert!”, specially designed to introduce children aged 3–7 to the world of classical string instruments. The workshop that follows is aimed at children aged 7–12, who, through musical activities and rhythmic games, will get to know and play the violin, viola, and cello.

The program concludes with a unique stage experience: a concert by the El Sistema Greece Academy Orchestra at the Apollo Theater of Syros. During the concert, the young participants will present a short interactive excerpt from the workshop activities and will close the performance by joining the orchestra in two beloved classical melodies.

Event Program

• Monday, April 6 (11:30 – 13:00) | Apollo Theater
  Interactive musical performance “1, 2, 3 Let’s Go to a Concert!” for children aged 3–7.
• Monday, April 6 & Tuesday, April 7 (17:00 – 20:00) | “Giannis Ritsos” Hall
  Orchestra Workshop for children aged 7–12. With the support of the Municipality of Syros–Ermoupolis, 14 children will experience preparing for an orchestral performance.
• Wednesday, April 8 (19:00 – 21:00) | Apollo Theater
  Grand Concert by the El Sistema Greece Academy Orchestra. The event culminates with the children of Syros joining the orchestra on stage in a celebration of culture for the whole island.

The Municipality of Syros–Ermoupolis, in collaboration with the Syrreo Festival, the El Sistema Greece Academy orchestra, and the Arco Sonore ensemble, announce the expansion of the educational activities of the three-day event (April 6–8), due to the strong response from children.

While the 14 active participation spots have already been filled, the organizers, in order to meet the high demand, are offering an additional 20 children (aged 6 and above) the opportunity to attend the workshop as observers. These children will have the chance to be present in the “I. Ritsos” Hall, follow the teaching process, and learn alongside the musicians, without actively using instruments on stage.
