Chryso in the Four Seasons of Ermoupoli
08/08/2026 - 09/08/2026
Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is one of the most timeless and beloved works of classical music, with global appeal for centuries. However, the question arises: how can such a well-known piece be presented with a fresh perspective? In 2012, composer Max Richter redefined the work through a minimalist approach, creating a contemporary “recomposition” that preserves its core themes while transforming them into new rhythmic and sonic patterns. Inspired by this version, the proposed performance combines music and narration, presenting an arrangement for violin and piano alongside excerpts from “Chrysó” by Rita Boumi-Pappa. The story of a woman from Patmos who grows up in Syros unfolds as a parallel narrative to the evolution of Ermoupolis. Structured around the four seasons, the performance highlights the cycle of life, nature, and human experience.
