Embrace of Memory
The 1st MAZI Festival
From Awareness to Social Change
The Association of Friends, Caregivers and People Living with Dementia and Other Neurodegenerative Brain Diseases of the Cyclades, “Agkalia Mnimis” (Embrace of Memory), is organizing the 1st “MAZI Festival”, a two-day event dedicated to social initiatives under the title _“From Awareness to Social Change.”_
The festival is open to all members of the public and will take place on 18th and 19th of October 2026, at the Apollon Theatre in Ermoupoli, Syros.
Our vision is for this festival, entitled “MAZI” (TOGETHER), to become an annual institution for our community. Its title highlights the urgent need for collective action, cooperation and solidarity in addressing the complex challenges posed by memory disorders, dementia and neurodegenerative brain diseases. These challenges affect individuals on a personal, psychological, family, social and economic level, and ultimately have institutional implications.
The festival programme will include:
– Informative sessions featuring healthcare professionals, caregivers and relevant organizations, focusing on prevention, early diagnosis, the latest medical developments, holistic, person-centred care and support for caregivers.
– Awareness-raising activities at Miaouli Square.
– Experiential workshops at the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupoli.
– Important institutional discussions on the prospects for developing local facilities and services.
– Cultural events, including a screening of the acclaimed documentary _“What Is Claire Doing?”_, followed by an open discussion.
The presence of all members of the public, as well as representatives of public institutions and organizations, would be a great honour to us. Your participation will provide meaningful support for our association’s efforts and help strengthen the essential message that **no one is alone on this journey.**
