A few words about the contributors
Mr. Georgios Monemvasitis, a music historian, is a regular contributor to the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron), the Orchestra of Colours, and a member of the three-person scientific and organizational committee that designed in 2009 the major exhibition of the Hellenic Parliament Foundation: Mikis Theodorakis – Composer, Politician, Thinker.
At the same time, he curated and presented 15 tribute episodes broadcast on the Parliament’s television channel. He curated the release of the Mikis Theodorakis – Symphonic Music CD box set by Legend (2007, six CDs), as well as the re-release of earlier recordings of his works by Universal (2008, five CDs). He is among the very few who have studied the full breadth of Theodorakis’ work, both classical and popular.
At the piano, Ms. Diana Vranousi, a graduate of the Athens Conservatory, has performed as a soloist with the Athens State Orchestra, the Thessaloniki State Orchestra, and the ERT National Symphony Orchestra. She has frequently collaborated with the Union of Greek Composers and participated in events organized by the Orchestra of Colours.
Maestro Yiannis Rigoutsos began his musical studies at the Ferekydes Cycladic Music School in Syros under Mr. Panagiotis Chalaris, earning diplomas in accordion, vocal music, and harmony. He continued his musical education in Athens at the Haimantas Conservatory, studying counterpoint and piano. Since 2000, he has conducted the Mixed Polyphonic Ecclesiastical Choir of Evangelistria Church in Syros, which boasts a 68-year history and has participated in national and international festivals, concerts, and two recitals dedicated to the Greek-French composer Joseph Akepsimas.
