Together by FABBIO MARRA
Fabio Marra creates a bittersweet family story using simple, everyday elements filled with humor and tenderness, to address a complex and previously taboo topic: the management and social inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
A powerful, human story that, with emotional intensity and immediacy, invites us to reflect and answer:
• Are there lives that are not worth living, and who can decide that?
• What does it mean to love? And what is the value of self-sacrifice in a society with fenced-in “selves”?
• In modern ethics, where the “self” is deified, how can there be true inclusion in societies?
• When did we stop doing things “together”? And ultimately, how can we become “the best version of ourselves” without the precious exchange that life “together” with others offers us?
Marra’s work, contemporary, fresh, tender, human, and true, unfolds around a topic that is as unfamiliar as it is universal: normality. It brings into focus an individual with intellectual disabilities. It explores his unspoken desires, the complexity of his emotions, the difficulty of communicating with his environment, and the inevitable conflicts that arise for everyone connected to him.
It is being presented for the first time in Greece by the artistic organization Altera Pars, directed by Petros Nakos, translated by Maria Chatzimmanouil, with Mina Cheimona in the central role of the “Mother”, Aggeliki Kontou, Elias Tsoumbelis and Chara Nikolaou.
