La Divina Greca Callas- the Greek career

As a homage to the centenary of the sublime Diva, the ‘Duo Sopiano’ will be presenting a tribute on September 2nd in
2023 at the iconic theatre ‘Apollo’ of Syros.

The members of the ‘Duo Sopiano’ are the soprano Elli Anastasopoulou and the pianist Neville Jason Fahy, who inspired
by his beloved muse Maria Callas, did the research for this project and has the artistic conception of the homage.

During this tribute, the audience will have the chance to discover arias from roles that Callas uniquely interpreted during her early Greek career (such as Tosca, Marta, Smaragda) as well as appreciate excerpts from her signature roles, which she performed when returning to Greece as the High Priestess of Opera during the apotheosis of her incomparable career (such as Norma, Medea).

In between the arias and pianistic interludes, Maria Kontogianni will recite personal quotes and thoughts of the great Diva, as well as critics from each period.

Throughout the tribute, there will be projections of photos and film related to her Greek career, shedding light on Callas’ unsurpassable artistry and radiant personality.
