Manolis Kalomiris my name – From Smyrna to Syros
Τhe Association of Asia Minor of Hermoupolis, Syros, on the occasion of the 140 years, since the birth of the leading Smyrnian composer and music educator Manolis Kalomiris, organizes in collaboration with the National Conservatory a tribute entitled Manolis Kalomiris my name – From Smyrna to Syros.
The Tribute that has the form of a musical- theatrical analogy about life, the ideas and work of the composer, includes the narration of excerpts from Kalomiris’ texts, such as his autobiography My Life and My Art, the musical memoirs From the life and sorrows of Captain Lyras, various articles or speeches combined with the performance of his musical works.
Selection and editing of texts Mr. Chara Kalomiris, granddaughter of the composer and General Director of the National Conservatory.
Narrated by actress Magda Mavrogianni, while works are performed by graduates of the National Conservatory and the Children’s Choir of the Cyclades Orchestra, directed by Mr. Nikos Roussos.
The performance is accompanied by audiovisual material, which has been curated by Mrs. Chara Kalomiri, with the support of the musicologist Mrs. Myrto Economidou.
