“In 1925 the family moved to New York to try their fortune in the big city. As Astor Piazzola had said himself, it was at the time of prohibition and the mafia… For his ninth birthday his father gave him a bandoneon and had lessons with a teacher who introduced him to classical music. After moving around he returns to Buenos Aires where he is now devoted to Tango composition. He introduces the new form of Tango Nuevo, a unique kind consisting of classical and jazz elements. A deep cut to the country’s culture which caused intense reactions.
