“THREE BYZANTINE HYMNODIES AND SEVEN POEMS”

Excerpts from three important works-cycles of songs and “swan songs” of their creators are
going to be presented on Holy Monday, April 10, at the Apollon theater. “Ta Tragoudia tis
Amartias” (The Songs of Sin) music by Manos Hadjidakis, in Dinos Christianopoulos’ poetry
and in one poem by Giorgos Chronas, “Oi Balantes tou Perithoriou” (The Ballads of the
Fringe) in music and lyrics by Apostolos Kaldaras and lyrics in one song by Kostas Virvos and,
also, “Ymnoi Aggelon se Rythmous Anthropon” (Angel Hymns in People Rythms), byzantine
ecclesiastical hymns set to music by Stavros Kouyoumtzis.
The works will be interpreted by Andreas Karakotas, who was the first to perform the above
works of Manos Hadjidakis and Apostolos Kaldaras. Karakotas also collaborated with Stavros
Kouyoumtzis during the creation of the third work.

In the second part, Karakotas will interpret “seven poems” by Manos Hadjidakis in
collaboration with the “Children – Youth Choir of the Orchestra of the Cyclades”
