A performance inspired by Rhapsody Omega of the Iliad travels across regional Greece and to remote islands, speaking about loss, complicity, forgiveness, and remembrance.

The National Theatre of Greece presents Station Omega: a new Greek theatrical work by Giorgos Christodoulou, directed by Dimitris Tsikouras (Tsik), an honors graduate of the Directing Department of the National Theatre’s Drama School for the previous academic year.

Centered on social reflection around violence, silence, otherness, complicity, and forgiveness, this flexible-scale production forms part of the First Stage’s outreach initiatives. In collaboration with Municipal and Regional Theatres (DI.PE.TH.E.), municipalities, and other local bodies, the National Theatre seeks to bring artistic creation beyond the narrow boundaries of the urban center to regional cities and remote islands, cultivating what it calls the “Language of Decentralization.” The production will conclude its journey in spring 2026 at the Plagia Stage of the Tsiller Building.

The play draws inspiration from Rhapsody Omega of the Iliad, where Priam kneels before Achilles, begging for Hector’s body. From this ancient core emerges a contemporary narrative that places collective complicity at its center—alongside loss, the need for catharsis, the necessity of memory, and the crucial act of co-forgiveness.

In a Greek village, a young person—perceived as different by the local community—disappears. His father is confronted with loss, unbearable silence, homophobic violence concealed behind “normality,” and ultimately with himself. He stands face to face with the one who deprived him of his child, demanding the truth, demanding the return of a missing body. Five characters meet on stage and, starting from a crime, open a shared space of storytelling, remembrance, questioning, and confrontation. Through myths, customs, and allegories, they attempt to penetrate the core of the human condition and explore what it truly means to coexist—sharing the same place, all of us together.
