The Splendid Welcome of an Era
The “Souris” Theatre Group, the Lyceum of Greek Women of Syros, and the Municipality of Syros–Ermoupoli join forces to revive one of the most emblematic moments of 19th-century Ermoupoli, during a period of intense urban prosperity and cultural flourishing. The audience is invited to witness a vivid re-enactment of the reception of the celebrated opera diva, which—according to historical tradition—took place with the use of the luxurious sedan chair (sedia), a unique heirloom now housed at the Apollon Theatre.
